• April 10, 2023 A joint PhD position "Knowledge-Driven Learning for XAI on Fraud-Detection" between Faculty of Science and Amsterdam Business School, is available under the supervision of assist. prof. Erman Acar (SIAS and ILLC) and prof. Ilker Birbil. The position will  focus on merging knowledge-driven (causal or logical) approaches and data-driven approaches to build a novel explainable  neuro-symbolic methodology for fraud detection. The selected candidate will be a part of SIAS group (IvI), ILLC and the  UvA's new AI4Fintech hub.  Deadline: May 21.

• February 2, 2023 The State Commission against Discrimination and Racism has presented its 'work program' to the Dutch Minister of Interior Affairs and Kingdom Relations. The work program has also been shared with the Senate and House of Representatives.

• February 1, 2023 Gossa Lo has joined the SIAS group. As a part-time AI researcher she will assist the State Commission against Discrimination and Racism in its long term and interdisciplinary study of discrimination and racism in the Netherlands.

• January 10, 2023 'ROBUST -Trustworthy AI-based Systems for Sustainable Growth’, a human-centered research program in AI receives a total of  €87 million in funding. SIAS group will contribute to the ROBUST ICAI academy.

• January 1, 2023   A PhD position available on XAI in Finance with a focus on neuro-symbolic approaches. Deadline: February 15. The selected candidate will be a part of SIAS group (IvI), CLC Lab (ILLC) and the upcoming AI4Fintech hub in Amsterdam.
